My thoughts:

• I started by creating a google document where I brainstormed the different ideas that could potentially be included in the vizfolio and d3 visualization.
• I narrowed down my ideas on representing “World Happiness Index” because
  i) I like the idea of being able to portray an aspect of data that can be visually accessible and comparable across the world.
  ii) In 2022, where materialistic goals seem to be the parameter for guaging happiness, I wanted to check the parameters that contribute to the happiness index.
  iii) The dataset seemed comprehensive enough as it included 156 of 195 countries in the world. The dataset was also not too large that it had too many variable to represent on a graph.
  

Frustrating technical challenges that I encountered while coding -

D3 viz - I was not able to plot the scatter plot on the desired scale.
D3 viz - I did not know whether what I set out to achieve would be possible with the skillset and knowledge that I have of d3.js.
D3 viz - At first, I was very keen on visualizing a map for the visualization of of my dataset, but then it involved a lot of new skills which I had to learn at the very last minute, which I didn’t think was the right decision for me at that moment. I wanted the final assignment to be a revision or refinement of the coding skillset that I acquired throughout the semester and not just a final showdown where I present work which I am not familiar with, which is why I decided to create a scatter plot graph.
D3 viz - I used the latest (2019 version) of the World Happiness Index report which I retrieved from Kaggle.
I represented the intersection of “Happiness Index Overall Score” and “Healthy life expectancy” on a scatter plot.
D3 viz - I would have liked to present the World Happiness Index on the world map as it would be easily accessible by users.
Vizfolio - I was struggling to link my blog posts and about page to the navigation bar so I tried different methods to link my page by referring to W3 schools and by consulting professor Ben Cooley.
