This is me!
Facts:
-
An overly optimistic and ambitious
journalist
who dreams of travelling the world with a camera in his hand.
-
A firm believer that visual stories have the power to uncover
compelling narratives.
-
Secretly missing Mumbai's vada pav and masala chai π
(P.S. - Super-excited to go back π)
Skillsets acquired throughout the semester:
- Coding on HTML, CSS, and Javascript
-
Learning how to read and write code to create visualizations for
the web
- Creating maps with leaflet.js
Bonus Learnings:
Even if something feels difficult or impossible to accomplish at
first, it gets better with time; or rather you become significantly
more competent over time as you consistently work towards learning new
skills, previously deemed impossible by you π
I thought that, even if I learn how to write code, I will never be
able to use it in my work going forward. But I realized that being
able to write code helps me encode data to graphs, charts, and other
forms of visually digestible format that can be interpreted by people.
Last but not the least, I am glad that that I changed my belief from,
βI am not smart enough to understand a programming language. Coding is
not for meβ to βCoding is just like learning to speak a new language.
I can learn coding with the right help and putting in the time time
and energy to learn a new skill.β
